The client – an independent provider of self-service solutions with a comprehensive portfolio of both hardware and software products – faced the exponential growth of vending machines and the increase of user base. Manual monitoring has become time-consuming, costly and ineffective. To avoid the negative impact on further business development, the client approached Smart IT with the request to find the solution to the issue.

Having performed a thorough situational analysis, Smart IT offered to develop a unified monitoring system.

How It Works

The delivered solution was developed from scratch, since the existing solutions on the market fit only one type of vending machines and covered only several of client`s issues, like checking the internet connection.

To embrace all issues at once Smart IT delivered the monitoring solution allowing to:

  • Check internet connection to provide an opportunity for making payments
  • Track the availability of consumables
  • Monitor the technical state of vending machines
  • Gather expenditure and revenue statistics

The implemented solution optimizes the work of engineers and couriers, by eliminating unnecessary daily routine duties. Thanks to the adjusted process of data analysis, the solution gathers billing data for accountancy and provides managers with statics on vending machines usage to make amendments and align them with the current business plan.

The monitoring data is gathered 24/7, the system sends notifications via email and SMS to inform about functional problems and lack of consumables in the vending machines.

Unify data from different types of sensors and vending machines in one solution.

Smart IT developed new drivers and administration panels for machine sensors (optical sensors, limit switches, etc.) to optimize data processing.

RESULTS
The solution delivered by Smart IT helped the client to take all the vending machines in service under control. The smoothly set up monitoring process enabled the client to eliminate 45% of manual work, while the statistics gathered on time provided sufficient information for making quick strategic amendments to the plan. The monitoring solution checks the states of 2000 vending machines in various of regions round-the-clock.
